Marissa Steiner

Overview

Marissa Steiner focuses her practice in mass toxic tort and environmental litigation. She specializes in defending Fortune 500 companies, insurers, and privately held corporations in cosmetic talc asbestos-related matters. Marissa has served as national coordinating counsel and national trial counsel for global cosmetic and personal care product manufacturers.

For over seven years, Marissa has been immersed in handling cosmetic talc and asbestos-related lawsuits in New York City Asbestos Litigation (“NYCAL”), the third-largest asbestos jurisdiction and one of the most plaintiff-friendly asbestos jurisdictions nationwide. Marissa employs innovative strategies and develops unique defenses to leverage early resolution. Among her many victories, she obtained a bench decision, winning summary judgment on behalf of a retailer immediately upon oral argument of the motion.

Marissa has established herself as a thought leader by continuing to follow trends nationwide. She recently co-authored “Asbestos Gets A Makeover,” the cover story of the April 2022 issue of Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (“CLM”) Magazine, providing nuanced insights into the future of cosmetic talc cases. Marissa was also invited to speak as a panelist at the Perrin National Asbestos Conference in September 2022, where she spoke on the future of talc litigation and impact of recent appellate decisions in NYCAL.
