Joni Katz Mackler

Joni’s practice has spanned the full arc of litigation: from discovery and motion practice through trial, negotiation, and mediation. She has extensive experience with Daubert-Lanigan challenges of plaintiffs’ medical and scientific experts, and is particularly skilled at researching and writing briefs on complex medical, scientific, and technical issues. Her matters have included asbestos, lead paint, latex, pesticides, mold, carbon monoxide, diesel exhaust, benzene, and other chemicals. For many years, Joni served as defense counsel to a New England-based railroad in asbestos and toxic tort matters — a relationship that evolved into her current role as local counsel for the Class I freight railroad company that acquired that carrier in 2022.

Prior to joining CMBG³ in 2026, Joni built her career across several of Boston’s leading litigation firms and spent thirteen years defending product manufacturers and distributors in asbestos matters at a Hartford-based firm. Throughout, she has worked collaboratively with National Coordinating Counsel to develop strategies for effective litigation management — present and future. Outside of the office, Joni enjoys yoga, skiing, family time and vacations, and dancing to live Grateful Dead cover bands.
