Signed into Law
Three bills were passed into law related to PFAS in August 2024.
- SB 2902 (MA) signed by governor. The bill mandates disclosure of PFAS in fire-fighting equipment and mandates that, beginning in 2027, PFAS is prohibited from being sold in fire-fighting equipment.
- HB 1352 (NH) signed by governor. The bill mandates that, beginning in 2025, fire departments shall not purchase materials with known PFAS incorporated into them.
- HB 1649 (NH) signed by governor. The bill restricts the use of PFAS in certain consumer products sold in New Hampshire. The bill also makes appropriations to the department of environmental services to fund an additional position and to fund the PFAS products control program. The bill further provides that funds received by the state in settlement of PFAS litigation will be deposited in the drinking water and groundwater trust fund and used to provide grants and loans to public water systems whose water sources have been impacted by PFAS above applicable standards.

- Summary: The bill proposes an amendment to SB 2902, which has been enacted. The amendment provides that a manufacturer that sells firefighting personal protective equipment to a person, local government or state agency shall not manufacture, knowingly sell, offer for sale, distribute for sale or distribute for use in the commonwealth any firefighting personal protective equipment containing intentionally-added PFAS.
