Responsibilities:
  • Act independently on matters involving complex issues, including (but not limited to) drafting of pleadings, motions, and legal briefs, presenting witnesses, and conducting cross examination, and managing litigation-related tasks such as development of discovery requests, production of discovery responses, and development of witness testimony;
  • Independently drive all assignments forward;
  • Consistently demonstrate ability to make recommendations and critical case decisions that are based on sound judgment, thorough legal and factual analysis, and a nuanced understanding of the clients needs and wishes;
  • Regularly engage with and negotiate with other parties, such as litigants, complainants, business competitors, co-defendants;
  • Must actively delegate work, provide timely feedback and actively train, educate and supervise associates and paralegals you are assigned to work with on a weekly, if not daily, basis;
  • Must independently comply with all administrative billing requirements and consistently meet minimum annual hours obligation; and
  • Must be working towards mastery in their field of expertise in the firm, ex. litigation, compliance, etc.
  • Must adhere to firm policies and procedures, ensure accountability with those systems, and take initiative in developing and implementing new systems and procedures for daily management.
  Qualifications:
  • Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and 7+ years of litigation or regulatory experience, admittance to bar and be in good standing in all jurisdictions;
  • Must have experience in all stages of litigation including trial preparation and trial and appeals (though in-court trial experience or practice of appellate law not required)
  • Must have mastery of the civil rules in the jurisdictions in which one practices, and expert understanding of all principles of law routinely relied upon in firm’s primary practice areas;
  • Must be able to manage cases independently and able to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Must comply with all firm administrative requirements
  • Able to work as a team with attorneys and other colleagues and manage junior employees
  • Superior written and oral communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Building case defenses and trial themes autonomously (but with available guidance)
  • Supporting national trial and coordinating counsel team to manage litigation nationwide for large corporate clients
  • Analyzing the application of state and federal case and regulatory law to the facts of cases for pre-trial motions and other submissions
  • Drafting original motions and other litigation-related documents on complex matters
  • Drafting discovery requests and responses to be exchanged with various parties
  • Interviewing potential and preparing witnesses for testimony in litigation or before regulatory bodies
